. . . and in today’s news

Now here is what on the face of it might seem like a milestone, but is probably not necessarily all it seems to be.

According to the stats, my blog, launched (at a second attempt after I cocked up the first post and had to start again) on February 29, 2009, has been viewed more than 1.1 million times. Fancy!

Rather sobering, though, are the figures recorded on Google stats which also list ‘retention’ – how long some bod chancing on my blog soon thinks ‘fuck this for a load of boring bollocks, I’m off!’ and remains true to that decision.

Equally sobering is that, as pointed out by my good friend Rob W., a former software engineer, in the past ten years as computing has become more ‘sophisticated’ and there are billions of bots wizzing about the net pretending to be hits a substantial number of the ‘viewers’ of my blog will be such bots.

Quite why my and several million other sites should be deemed worthy of bot attention is not clear to me, but . . .

If each post is at least 1,200 words long, that means I have burbled on about this shite and that and written at least 120 million words, about 12 millions shopping list (subs please check). I always promised myself I would ‘write’ after I retired but this, er, is not quite what I thought it would be, to that Nobel Prize for Bullshit is still some way off. For writing more along the lines I planned, try these
